#2 Amy Mckissock: The Pretty Vain

Beauty Blogger

I have know Amy for many years, we used to work together! Amy ALways had the best hair, and style and finally started doing this unreal blog just a year ago (woo hoo Anniversary!) and has been overwhelmed, in her modest ways, about the amount of following she has obtained! I am however, not surprised. I myself turn to this blog for facts about those great makeup secrets we all are dying to know about. Amy is driven and so excited about where this blog could lead her, she got some planssss let me tell you! I know this sweet-hearted doll faced babe is going places. She's hilarious to top it all off and takes some amazing photos, girl should be modelling too! She's too modest though, which is the 837483th reason why she was my second pick for girl, put in work!

She's livin' the dream !

Amy's five favourite products...

About this FAB Blog: This blog features a collection of my personal experiences in the beauty world, from products I have tried and tested to looks I have created. I like to think that I am a beauty "newb" since I have not gone to school for make-up, so I go at my posts in a "if I can do it, you can too" type of manner.

Q & A with The Pretty Vain

1. What was the biggest motivator for starting your own blog?

I was going through a very tough time in my life last year and was feeling confused between figuring out my life path and personal issues and started this blog as a distraction to those things. It started out as a fun hobby to get my mind off of the pessimism but has almost come as a cure for my original problems. I now have over 800 followers, get to attend amazing events and write about what I absolutely love. Isn't life great?

2. Why is your blog beauty based?

I have always been fascinated with the beauty industry and wanted to use this blog to further my knowledge. I think make-up is such an amazing thing for women. I love the fact that it can enhance your natural beauty, transform you into someone else for the day or create art on the body. I don't think people realize how truly powerful makeup can be. A simple look can allow you to feel more confident and more beautiful, which is a great thing.

3. Do you think women are making a mark in your specific industry? If so, how?

I definitely think that women are making a mark in the beauty industry. It has been used in so many various ways and is something that is thought of on a minute to minute basis. I also am fascinated by the nutraceutical aspect of makeup, meaning that it can be used to enhance your appearance. For example, adding retinol to night creams for its anti-aging properties. Every day there is a new discovery and it all is there to benefit women.

4. Who or what do you look to for inspiration?

As silly as it may sound, I feel as though inspiration is everywhere you look. In the past I have been inspired to do manicures based on runway dresses or fabric patterns. As long as you keep your creative mind open you can find inspiration in every day life. But when all else fails I love to read other beauty blogs, they can inspire me to go out and try a new item or maybe add a colour to my makeup collection that I would have never considered before.

5. What do you see for yourself or your blog in 5 years?

I am not entirely sure where this blog will take me in the upcoming years. I would absolutely love to work for a Canadian Beauty company and I definitely think that hard work and connection could allow me to get there. I am quite a determined individual so if I set my sights on something I will find a way to get there.

Thanks so much Amy, I am so looking forward to following your blog for years to come!

So much love,

soundslikeyellowphotography.
