I met Allicia and was immediately inspired by her incredible style and ease with her confidence. Allicia is the owner and designer of DearFrankie. A stunning lingerie line based of downtown Toronto. Dear Frankie has lingerie, and clothes to make women feel soooo fabulous! It's amazing too because around Allicia and her sweet intern Carly I really did feel comfortable! Just knowing they know what ladies should be wearing and Allicia creating items to make us gals hit a jackpot in confidence makes me so happy that she is my first pick for girl, put in work.

About the company:Dear Frankie is a lounge wear inspired lingerie line, designed and made in Canada. The collection, created by Allicia Martin, focuses on comfort, wearability and femininity for the woman who values fashion as much as ease. Each collection focuses on layers, by giving the customer a whole wardrobe, from underwear basics to daywear. By mixing and matching, many wardrobe options are available with the dear frankie line. The line maintains a green consciousness by using mainly eco-friendly fabrics in each collection, such as Bamboo and Modal. For the woman that does not jeopardize beauty for comfort, dear frankie is sure to impress and satisfy. With a recent step into the swim industry, dear frankie hopes to impress even the most seasoned beach bunnies. by matching unique prints and colours with super sexy styles, the new swim line is sure to be a hit on the beaches all over. Dear frankie’s designer, Allicia Martin was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta. After working for years in Alberta’s oilfields, she decided to leave the west and move to Toronto to study Fashion Design at Ryerson University and earn her degree in design.
What was the biggest motivator for starting your own company? I want every woman to be able to feel confident and beautiful, and if i can help through dearfrankie then i’ve done my job, Making other women feel their best is what motivates me.
Why are you and your fabulous company in Toronto? Moving to Toronto to go to Ryerson, meant moving my life and planting my roots. This city makes being a designer so easy. we have a fashion district, manufacturers, wholesalers etc. I get to go to my studio every day and be right in the middle of the fashion district which is something that is so special and im grateful for it every day.
Do you think women are making a mark in your specific industry? If so, how? i think the fashion industry is a very female dominated industry as it is. i went to school with 180 females and 1 male lol! not to mention its a super tough industry to break into, so anyone that is able to, has won half the battle.
Who or what do you look to for inspiration? other women and their needs inspire me. i dont design for me, i design for them and what they want.
What do you see for your company in 5 years? i would love to be able to be doing dearfrankie full time and not having to have a part time job. Having a full lifestyle line...day wear, lingerie and swim suit. Making women all over the world happy, that would make me happy.
PS. i hope that if any women out there is thinking of starting their own business just goes for it. take one step at a time and before you know it, you will be full swing doing what you love!
